MOTS-c--New Hotspot for Anti-obesity

In March 2015, Cell Metabolism reported that MOTS-c, a 16-amino acid peptide encoded in the mitochondrial genome, plays an important role in metabolic homeostasis. From the research, it is found that MOTS-c mediates mitochondrial regulation of insulin through folate-purine-AMPK pathway. The discovery of MOTS-c provides new thoughts for age- and diet-dependent insulin resistance, diabetes and obesity. Moreover, the function of this peptide had been partially confirmed by mouse model (Fig.1.).The research of MOTS-c has becoming a hotspot after this initial report. In order to support the researches, we developed full suite of reagents for MOTS-c.

Firstly, the peptide of MOTS-c (CPX132Hu01) is obtained through the new bought full automatic peptidesynthesizer. The amino acid of the peptide is MRWQEMGYIF YPRKLR. And due to the unicity of the peptide, this product could be used in animal experiments to explore the function of MOTS-c.

Subsequently, the peptide is conjugated to vectors based on small molecule coupling technology, and holoantigen are obtained, including BSA-MOTS-c (CPX132Hu11), OVA-MOTS-c (CPX132Hu21), et al. Then, the holoantigen were used to immunize animal for antibody (PAX132Hu01) preparation. The antibody could be used in various of molecular and immunological experiments, for instance, Western Blot, IHC and so on. These experiments could be utilized to detect MOTS-c qualitatively.

Based on the peptides and specific antibody, we also developed ELISA kit for MOTS-c (CEX132Hu) for quantitatively detection of the peptide from various biological samples.
