Proliferating Cell Nuclear Antigen (PCNA) was first discovered and named after Miyachi et al in the serum of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in 1978. It is named after it only exists in normal Proliferating cells and tumor cells. Later studies found that PCNA was closely related to cell DNA synthesis and played an important role in the initiation of cell proliferation, which was a good indicator of cell proliferation status. PCNA has certain correlation with the occurrence and development, grade, stage, radiotherapy sensitivity, prognosis, recurrence and metastasis of various tumors. Therefore, PCNA plays an important role in the early diagnosis, therapeutic effect monitoring and prognosis of tumor diseases.
