Catenin Delta 1 (CTNNd1)
Catenins were discovered as proteins that are linked ('catena' means 'chain' in Latin) to the cytoplasmic domain of transmembrane cadherin proteins. Delta-catenin, also called CAS, p120(cas), or p120(ctn), is a tyrosine kinase substrate implicated in ligand-induced receptor signaling through the EGF receptor, the PDGF receptor (PDGFR), and the CSF1 receptor, as well as in cell transformation by SRC.
Catenin delta-1 is a member of the Armadillo protein family, which function in adhesion between cells and signal transduction. Multiple translation initiation codons and althernative splicing result in many different isoforms being translated. Not all of the full-length natures of the described transcript variants have been determined.
