Tylosin (TYL)

Tylosin, also known as Tylan or Tylocine, it is a bacteriostatic macrolide antibiotic and feed additive used in veterinary. Tylosin is naturally produced by Streptomyces fradiae and inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by inhibiting 50s ribosome. It has a wide range of activity against Gram-positive bacteria and a limited range of Gram-negative bacteria. It is an aldehyde, a disaccharide derivative, an enone, a leucomycin, a monosaccharide derivative and a macrolide antibiotic. It comes from a tylactone.
