E0 Glycoprotein, CSFV (E0 Protein)

Classical Swine Fever Virus (CSFV) is a Pestivirus belonging to Flaviviridae family. It is a single-stranded RNA virus. Infection with this virus causes classical swine fever (CSF), CSF is a highly contagious, economically significant, multisystemic viral disease in swine. Several structural proteins of CSFV have been identified, including E0, also called Erns, E1, E2, etc.. E0 and E2 are the two main protective antigens, they are essential for virus adsorption and entry into host cells, and can induce neutralizing antibodies production. The sequence encoding E0 in CSFV is more conserved than that encoding E2, host affinity of CSFV is related to E0, and E0 protein can effectively neutralize E0-specific monoclonal antibodies and protect susceptible animals from infection.
