N-Acetyltransferase 16 (NAT16)

[Edit]

C7orf52

N-Acetyltransferase 16 (NAT16)
C7orf52 Contains 1 N-acetyltransferase domain. The polypeptide of the N-acetyltransferase domain that is responsible for AcCoA binding has a unique fold, as noted in the reports of the two first structures that were solved from the superfamily . All the subsequent structure determinations have demonstrated nearly the same protein topology and AcCoA binding mode. There is no detectable similarity in either primary sequence or three-dimensional structure between enzymes in the GNAT superfamily and other AcCoA-dependent acetyltransferases such as chloramphenicol acetyltransferase and dihydrolipoyl transacetylase.N-acetyltransferase is an enzyme that catalyzes the transfer of acetyl groups from acetyl-CoA to arylamines They have wide specificity for aromatic amines, particularly serotonin, and can also catalyze acetyl transfer between arylamines without CoA. EC 2.3.1.5.

Organism species: Homo sapiens (Human)
